Want to turn your finance blog into a source of income? Discover proven monetization strategies, traffic tips, and beginner-friendly methods to earn money online.

You know that moment when you’re sitting at your desk, staring at the screen, and thinking, “how to make money from a finance blog?“
Yes. There is. And it’s called a finance blog.
I’m not talking about some secret way to get rich. I’m talking about a real, proven strategy that thousands of people worldwide are using, from educators writing about personal finance to young people explaining what crypto or Forex is.
This guide is for those of you who don’t know where to start. You don’t need a degree in finance. You don’t need years of experience. You just need a willingness to learn and patience.
Let’s get started.
Before you open WordPress or consider a domain name, you need to understand why it’s worth investing time in this particular niche.
Every month, millions of people search for terms like “how to invest,” “what is an ETF,” “how to save on a low salary,” and “best broker for beginners.” These are high-intent searches, people want answers and are ready to click on links, sign up for platforms, buy products.
Financial blogs fall into a category called YMYL (Your Money Your Life), content that affects people’s financial lives. This means that Google rates it strictly, but also that advertisers pay very well to appear on such pages. It is one of the most expensive niches in CPC (cost per click) on Google AdSense.
Sam Dogen, founder of Financial Samurai, started his blog in 2009 while working on Wall Street. Today, he has over 60,000 newsletter subscribers and earns hundreds of thousands of dollars a year from blogging, advertising, and affiliate marketing.
You don’t need to be the next Sam Dogen. Just build something small but solid.
The biggest mistake new bloggers make is creating a blog that talks about “all things finance.” That doesn’t work, for SEO, or for your audience.
Instead, you need a sub-niche: a specific topic within the broader world of finance.
Try one of these categories:
| Sub-Niche | Topic Example | Competition |
| Personal finance | How to save with an 800€ salary | Moderate |
| Investing for beginners | ETFs vs Stocks: What to choose? | High |
| Forex & Trading | Forex Guide for Beginners | High but profitable |
| Crypto | How to buy Bitcoin safely | High |
| Financial independence (FIRE) | Early retirement | Low, big opportunity |
| Money for young people | First salary: Where to invest it | Low, huge audience |
Start with what you know or what interests you. If you love crypto, write about crypto. If you like counting every dollar, write about savings. Authenticity shows in the writing and people understand that.
Listen: the technical side is much easier than you think. In less than 2 hours you can have a live blog. However, you will need to find an analytical video on Youtube that will also include the hosting + WordPress setup.
What you need:
Domain Name (your site name)
Choose something short, simple, and relevant to your topic.
Cost: approximately €10-15 per year.
Web Hosting (the “space” on the internet)
For beginners, I recommend SiteGround, Hetzner, or Hostinger. They cost around $3-$6 per month and include a one-click WordPress installation.
WordPress (the blogging software)
WordPress.org (not the .com) is the best option. It’s free, used by over 40% of all websites in the world, and has thousands of free themes and plugins.
Theme
Start with a free theme like Astra or GeneratePress. They’re fast, mobile-friendly, and help with SEO.
Here’s the “hidden” secret of successful bloggers: they write about what people are looking for, not what they want to say.

How to find the right keywords:
Tool 1: Google Suggest
Start typing “how to invest” into Google and see what it automatically suggests. These are real searches from people.
Tool 2: AnswerThePublic.com
Free tool that shows you hundreds of questions people are asking about a topic.
Tool 3: Ubersuggest (free basic plan)
Shows you how many people are searching for a keyword each month and how difficult it is to rank for it.
Golden keywords for a financial blog :
Structure of each article:
Minimum length: 1,500-2,500 words per article. Long, detailed articles rank better.
Publication frequency: At least 2-3 articles per month for the first 6 months, but if you can upload one per week, that would be even better.
It takes consistency, meaning you say you’ll write an article per week and do it.
Many beginners overlook Pinterest, but it’s the biggest opportunity for new finance blogs that haven’t yet built SEO authority.
Pinterest isn’t just a social network, it’s a visual search engine. Pinterest users are actively searching for ideas, guides, and tips. And the audience for personal finance, investing, and crypto is huge on Pinterest.
Create Pins that “steal” attention
Use Canva (free) to create vertical graphics (1000×1500 pixels) with:

Pin regularly
Ideally 5-10 pins per week. Use Tailwind (free plan) for automated scheduling.
Keywords in Pins
In the title and description of each pin, include keywords that users are searching for:
«personal finance tips»
«how to invest money beginners»
«forex trading guide»
«crypto for beginners»
«save money tips»
Now it’s time for the part you’ve all been waiting for. How exactly do you make money?
This is the simplest method: you display ads on your blog and earn money every time someone views or clicks on them.
How to get started:
Sign up for Google AdSense (free, approved in 2-4 weeks)
Put the code on your site
Start earning
Financial blogs are among the most profitable for AdSense. The reason: banks, brokers, insurance companies pay a lot to display ads to the public interested in money.
You just need to know that crypto blogs are often not accepted by AdSense.
Affiliate marketing means that you promote third-party products or services and earn a commission for every sale or signup made through your unique link.
For a finance blog, these are the best opportunities:
Here lies one of the biggest opportunities for finance bloggers: forex affiliate & IB programs.
What is an IB (Introducing Broker)?
You are the “middleman” between a forex broker and investors who want to open an account. Every time someone opens an account through your link and starts trading, you earn.

Imagine that your blog attracts 50 new traders in a year, who trade an average of 10 lots per month, and you earn $5 per lot. That’s $2,500/month, from just one broker. If you work with 2-3 brokers, the numbers start to get really interesting.
If you write about crypto, then you have some of the most generous affiliate programs in digital marketing ahead of you:
Bybit Affiliate Program:
Bybit , the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, offers affiliates up to 50% commission on their clients’ trading fees. This means recurring income: every time your client makes a trade, you earn.
MEXC Affiliate:
Even more generous: up to 70% commission on futures. Ideal for bloggers focusing on advanced crypto trading.
Imagine 100 people sign up for Binance through your blog and each trades €1,000/month with an average fee of 0.1%. That’s €1 fee per person, or €100 in total. With a 50% commission, you earn €50/month just from them. If you increase the signups to 1,000 active traders with higher trading volume, the numbers get very interesting.

Once you build an audience, you can create and sell your own digital products:
Finance is a matter of trust. No one will follow your advice if they don’t trust you. Here’s why:
Here’s the truth: you won’t make money the first month. But if you stay consistent, this is a realistic timeline:
| Time Interval | What to Do | Estimated Revenue |
| Month 1-2 | Set up a blog, write 5-8 articles | 0€ |
| Month 3-4 | Pinterest traffic, AdSense approval | 5-30€ |
| Month 5-6 | First affiliate links, email list | 30-100€ |
| Month 7-9 | SEO starts, regular traffic | 100-500€ |
| Month 10-12 | Sponsored posts, optimization | 300-1.000€ |
| Years 2+ | Scaling, passive income | 1.000-5.000€+ |
This is not a guarantee, it is a realistic estimate if you work consistently.
For writing & SEO:
A finance blog is not a way to make quick money. It’s a long-term asset that’s built slowly but surely.
The good news: unlike a business, you don’t need capital. You need time, consistency, and a desire to help your readers.
Get started today with just one step: choose your sub-niche.
From there, everything else will follow.
