What is Bybit and Why Choose It in 2026?

Bybit is one of the largest and most popular cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. It was founded in 2018 and today serves millions of users worldwide.
If Binance is the “H&M” of crypto exchanges – big, well-known, a little overwhelming – Bybit is the “Zara”: it has style, it is organized and you will find what you are looking for without getting lost.
Let’s take a look at some of the basic things you should know about Bybit
Easy to navigate: Its interface is designed to be unintimidating. Even if you open the app for the first time, you’ll know where to go.
Huge variety of crypto: It has over 350 spot assets and 450+ perpetual pairs. From Bitcoin and Ethereum to altcoins you’ve never heard of.
Advanced features for all levels: Spot trading for beginners, futures for more advanced traders, copy trading for those who don’t want to decide for themselves.
Low fees: One of the most competitive fee structures on the market.
Important note: Bybit.com is not available to users from the US, UK, Canada, and some other countries. If you’re in the European Union, you’ll be using Bybit.eu, which operates under the MiCA framework and focuses primarily on spot trading and margin trading.

How to Deposit Money on Bybit
How to Deposit Money on Bybit
Here’s where it gets interesting. You have four main options to fund your account, but we’ll start with the easiest one
The easiest option for beginners. You go to “Buy Crypto” then make a fiat deposit and deposit your local currency
In this category, you also make a deposit but also buy the Crypto you want.
And you can do this directly with Visa/Mastercard.

.
Understanding Accounts: Funding Account vs Trading Account
This confuses a lot of people at first. At Bybit there are two main “types” of accounts within the same account:
Funding Account: This is where your money goes initially when you make a deposit. It’s like your bank “savings”, money on hold.
Unified Trading Account: This is where you need to transfer your funds to be able to trade. The transfer is done instantly and without fees through the platform.
How to transfer: Assets → Transfer → Select amount → Funding → Unified Trading Account → Confirm.
Bybit Spot Trading: Every Trader’s Beginning
Spot Trading is the simplest form of trading. You buy a cryptocurrency at the current market price and you actually own it.
If you buy 0.01 Bitcoin, that 0.01 BTC is in your account.
Types of Orders You Need to Know
Market Order:
It tells the platform “buy me now, at the best available price.” It executes immediately. Ideal for beginners who want simplicity.
Limit Order:
It tells the platform “buy me ONLY if the price reaches X.” It doesn’t execute immediately it waits. If it doesn’t reach the price you want, nothing happens.
For example, if you want to buy Bitcoin and the price of Bitcoin is at $80,000, you set a buy limit at $79,000 and when the price reaches $79,000, the purchase will be made automatically.
In the image to understand, you will put Buy after limit and in Price you will choose the price at which you want to buy Bitcoin and in Quantility you will put the money you want to buy Bitcoin.

Example: Bitcoin is at $85,000. You want to buy but you think it will drop to $82,000. You place a Limit Order at $82,000.
If the price reaches that point, the purchase is made automatically. If it goes up, you don’t buy anything.
Bybit Fees: What You Pay and When
This is a topic that many beginners ignore and then wonder why they get less than they expected.
Spot Trading Fees.
Bybit charges 0.10% for makers and takers at the basic level (VIP 0). What does this mean?
Taker: You place a Market Order. You get liquidity from the market. You pay 0.10%.
Maker: You place a Limit Order that is not executed immediately. You add liquidity. Also 0.10% (but can be reduced with VIP level).
Example: You buy $1,000 in Bitcoin → You pay $1 in fees. Simple.
Futures Trading: For the Bold
A clear warning is needed here: futures trading is NOT for beginners.
It’s like learning to drive a car for 1 month and then being asked to drive a Formula 1 car
But you should know what it is, even if you don’t use it now.
What are Futures?
In futures, you don’t buy the cryptocurrency. You buy a contract that estimates whether the price will go up or down. And you use leverage, that is, you borrow money from the platform to open a larger position.
Example: You have $100 and you use 10x leverage. Your position becomes $1,000. If the market moves 5% in your favor, you win $50 (50% of your $100). If it moves 5% against you, you lose $50 — that is, half of your investment.
With 20x leverage, 5% opposite movement = full liquidation (you lose everything).
If you are interested, I will soon create a detailed guide on how to do futures trading, but with the right method and strategy.
Bybit Withdraw: How to Get Your Funds Back
Withdraw is just as simple as depositing. Here’s how:
Withdrawing Crypto:
- Go to Assets → Withdraw
- Select the currency (e.g. USDT)
- Select the network (TRC-20 for cheap withdrawals)
- Enter your wallet address
- Confirm with email code + Google Authenticator
- Withdrawal is done within a few minutes
Withdrawing Fiat (Euro):
On Bybit you can withdraw directly to a bank account.
Assets → Fiat → Withdraw. It takes 1-3 business days.
But first you will have to convert Bitcoin to EUR(Fiat)
Attention: To withdraw to a bank you will first have to make a deposit of at least 2 euros (or your local currency) to Bybit from the IBAN you want to withdraw from, It can take up to 2 business days
Bybit Security: Protect Your Money
Security in the crypto world is not just a feature, it is a necessity.
Here is what you should always remember:
Don’t leave large amounts on exchanges: Exchanges can be hacked. If you have a large amount of crypto, use a hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor, Tangem) for storage.
Never share private keys or seed phrases: No one, not even Bybit “support“, will ever ask you for this information.
Never trust DMs: If someone sends you a message on Telegram or Discord claiming to be from Bybit, it is a scam.
Always.
Use a unique email: Don’t use the same email you have everywhere for Bybit.
Common Mistakes Beginners Make on Bybit
They put the wrong network on their deposit.
Always double check the network. ERC-20, TRC-20, BSC, they are not the same thing. One mistake here and the money is gone forever.
They use high leverage right away.
The 100x leverage advertised everywhere is for the very experienced. Start with spot trading and if you enter futures, start with 2x-3x.
FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).
The market went up 30% overnight and you buy at the top? Usually a
correction follows. Learn to buy on dips, not highs.
They don’t enable 2FA.
Extremely easy to do, extremely expensive not to do.
Bybit uses industry-standard security cold storage for most funds, 2FA, anti-phishing codes. No exchange is 100% immune to risks, but Bybit remains one of the most reliable options.
There is no official minimum deposit. You can start with as little as $10. For Copy Trading, you need at least $100 USDT.
Over 350 assets in the spot market and 450+ perpetual pairs.

This guide has the right tone for beginners. The part about Funding Account vs Trading Account is actually more useful than most people realize, because small interface details are where new users often get confused.
I also like that you didn’t make futures sound too easy. Leverage is usually where beginners get hurt, not because the tool is bad, but because the position size feels abstract until the market moves against them.
I use BYDFi for some of my own BTC/ETH trading, and the biggest thing I’ve learned is to slow down before every action: check the network, check the order type, check 2FA, and test withdrawals before trusting any platform seriously.
A good exchange guide should make people more careful, not just more excited to trade.
