Want to start copy trading without technical knowledge? This guide shows you how to copy profitable Expert Advisors (EAs) in three simple steps, no VPS, coding, or complex setup required.

A very common question I read in your comments is whether there is a way to automatically copy the movements of profitable EAs (Expert Advisors), without ever opening a chart, without knowing what “support and resistance” means, and – here’s the interesting part – without needing a VPS, without installing anything on your computer, and without your PC needing to be on 24 hours a day.
And this can be done easily and quickly.
This is the complete guide on how to start copy trading the best EAs in 3 simple steps, written for someone who is just starting out on this topic.
We’ll talk about what an EA really is, why “no VPS” is a bigger deal than you think, which EAs are worth watching, and -most importantly- what can go wrong, because no serious guide will tell you only the good stuff.
Initially, the forex broker we use to find the best EAs is FP Trading.
If you open an account in the “REFERRED BY A PARTNER” field, you will press select “YES” and enter and you will enter the code: 445279.
Some of the links below are affiliate links. This means that if you purchase something or use a platform, I earn a small commission at no cost to you. Thank you for supporting my work!

Let’s clarify something before we go any further, because it confuses a lot of people. An EA (Expert Advisor) is a program, an algorithm, that makes buying and selling decisions in the financial markets based on specific rules, without a human hand pressing the button each time.
“Copy trading EAs” means that instead of making or buying such a program and “running” it yourself, you connect your account to the account of an EA that is already running, and whatever it does, your account automatically does, proportionally to your capital.
If the EA opens a position in gold (XAUUSD) and comes out with a profit of 4%, your account does the same. If it loses, you lose too. You don’t click anything. You simply choose which EA to follow, and from there the work is done by itself.
This is where most copy trading guides lead you astray without realizing it.
In the classic copy trading method, when you use an EA through MetaTrader (MT4/MT5) on your own computer, the program must be “running” all the time, 24/5, because the forex market never sleeps while it is open.
If you shut down your computer to go to sleep, EA stops. If the power goes out, it stops. If your internet goes down for 10 minutes while you’re at work, EA stops.
And since this is unacceptable for someone who wants serious results, the “solution” most people suggest is to rent a VPS (Virtual Private Server), i.e. a remote computer somewhere in a data center, that stays open all the time, specifically to run your EA.
This means:
An additional monthly cost, usually $15 to $40 per month, just to keep your program “alive”.
You need to know how to log in to it, install MetaTrader in there, upload the EA, configure the parameters correctly, monitor that everything is working.
For someone just starting out, this is like being told “to learn how to ride a bike, you first have to build your own bike from scratch”.
The good news is that there is a way to bypass this part entirely.
Some copy trading platforms, most notably FP Trading, have built their technology so that trades are copied on their server side, in the cloud, not on your computer.
What this means in practice is this: once you connect your account to an EA or trader through the platform, the orders are automatically copied to their own servers, regardless of whether your phone is turned off, your computer is asleep, or you are on a beach with no signal.
You don’t install MetaTrader separately somewhere, you don’t upload .ex4 or .ex5 files, you don’t open any “terminal” to run in the background. You just register, choose the EA, set your risk, and press activate.
This is the essence of copy trading without a VPS, and it is the reason why more and more people are turning to this method instead of the old school “Buy an EAs and build your own setup” this will save you a lot of money and time.
The first step is simple, but it is important to do it right from the start, because a wrong choice here will cost you time later.

The first step is simple, but it is important to do it right from the start, because a wrong choice here will cost you time later.
You need a broker that supports copy trading without installation, i.e. cloud-based connection to EAs and traders. We personally follow and use FP Trading, precisely because it offers this functionality through the “Social Trading” section of the platform, without having to touch any separate software.
When registering, in the “REFERRED BY A PARTNER” field, select “YES” and enter the code 445279.

After registration, you will need a deposit to activate your account. Here you should look at the numbers realistically: technically you can start copy trading with 100 euros (or depending on your local currency), but most EAs bots require you to start with 500-1,000 euros to gain access and gain experience.
This is where most beginners make the biggest mistake: they see a number like “+1,900% profit” and immediately click “follow”, without understanding what that number means.
Before I show you which EAs are worth paying attention to, you need to know what you are looking at:
Total gain (Gain %) shows how much the account has grown since it was started, but by itself it says nothing about the risk.
Drawdown is the number that really counts. It shows the maximum drop the account had at a given time. An EA with a drawdown of 70% means that at some point the account lost 70% of its value, which for a beginner is extremely dangerous. As a general rule, avoid EAs with a drawdown of more than 40%.
Win rate shows how many of your trades close in profit. But be careful, an EA with a 50% win rate can be more profitable than one with 80%, depending on how much it wins when it wins and how much it loses when it loses.

Based on these criteria, two EAs currently stand out on the FP Trading platform, both of which we personally monitor.

Quantum Queen is a grid EA built on over 15 years of trading experience, with a single focus: the XAUUSD gold pair. While most algorithms try to “cover” dozens of currency pairs, Quantum Queen does what a chef who refuses to cook anything but risotto does, but makes it better than anyone else.
The live account has been running since April 2024, without a single losing month so far, with a total profit of +1,970.63%, a drawdown of 31.07%, a win rate of 76% and a profit factor of 3.14 (i.e. for every 1 euro of loss, the EA gains 3.14 euros).
If you are looking for the most aggressive EA on the list, this is the Quantum Queen.

If Quantum Queen is the rock star, Kirana GBP Invest is the type that does its job quietly, without fuss, and that is exactly what you want in a second EA in your portfolio.
Kirana focuses exclusively on the GBPUSD pair, only intraday trading (opening and closing positions within the same day, without “holding” positions overnight), and has a total profit of +284.44% with a drawdown of just 25.57%, on a live account, without a losing month since its inception.
The win rate here is 50%, meaning it wins one out of every two trades. And here is the most important lesson of forex copy trading that you need to understand: you don’t need to win most of the time, you need to win more than you lose when you lose. This is exactly the logic behind Kirana’s stability.
This is the step that most people skip, and it’s probably the most important of all.
After you select your EA, the platform will ask you to set two basic things: how it will scale your trade volume based on your equity (usually the “Autoscale” setting based on equity is the safest option for beginners), and a risk management limit.
The risk management setting works like an automatic “safety switch”. You set a loss percentage (usually 25% to 30% of your capital), and if the EA reaches this loss, the system automatically stops copying new trades and closes existing ones. Don’t set it too low, because even the best EAs have bad weeks before they dynamically return to profit.
Once you set these two points, you press activate, and from that moment on, every time the EA opens a position, it automatically opens it in your account. No VPS, no installation, no need to even be logged in.
However, if you want to learn how to insert all the unnecessary numbers, you can read this guide here. How to Copy Trading on FP Trading.
When looking for the best copy trading platform, the criteria that really count are: transparency in the details of traders and EAs, regulation by recognized authorities, cloud-based copying without the need for external software, and easy access to verified histories (via platforms like Myfxbook or SignalStart).
FP Trading operates within the ecosystem of FP Markets, a multi-regulated forex broker that has been operating since 2005, so over 20 years in one of the most competitive and regulated industries in the world. This means “no harm ever”, meaning that the infrastructure behind the platform is not a random application without supervision.
This is the question people ask and it is rarely answered honestly.
The truth is this: technically, you can start with 100-200 euros. In practice, for the amount of profit to be meaningful in relation to the time and effort, you need at least 500-1,000 euros. If you want to diversify into two EAs, as we personally do with Quantum Queen and Kirana GBP Invest, a realistic start is around 1,000-1,500 euros in total, divided according to the minimum capital required by each EA.
No serious guide tells you only the good stuff, and I’ll be honest with you here, because I owe it to anyone who reads this far.
First, the past is no guarantee of the future. An EA that has had 12 consecutive months of profit can suddenly go into a difficult period if market conditions change. This has happened before, it will happen again, and no one can predict it with certainty.
Second, there is a performance fee. Most profitable traders and EAs keep a percentage, usually around 15-20%, but only on winning trades, not on the total capital. This is fair in general, but you need to calculate it in your actual profits.
Third, the drawdown can exceed your expectations if you do not set up your risk management correctly. We saw above that even good EAs have reached a drawdown of 30-49% at some point. If you have not set a safety limit, you can lose much more than you would like.
Fourth, copy trading is not passive income in the magical sense it sounds like. You need to check periodically, maybe once a week, to see if the EA’s performance is still moving in line with its history or if something has changed.
Fifth, CFDs in general carry significant risk. According to statistics published by most regulated brokers, approximately 65-89% of retail investors lose money when trading CFDs, regardless of whether they do it manually or via copy trading. This does not mean that it is not worth trying, it means that you should enter with capital that you can afford to lose, without affecting your daily life.
The honesty here is not to discourage you, it is to enter this with your eyes open, not with the illusion that it is a guaranteed income.
No. That is exactly the purpose of copy trading, to allow someone with no experience to copy the strategy of an experienced algorithm or trader, without having to understand technical analysis.
No, if you are using a platform with a cloud-based copy trading system, such as FP Trading. A VPS is only needed in the old method, where the EA runs locally inside a MetaTrader terminal that must remain open at all times.
Realistically, 500 to 1,000 euros is a good starting point, although technically you can start with less, depending on the minimum limit of each EA.
An EA follows strictly programmed rules without emotion, while a manual trader can change strategy or make decisions outside of the plan. Both have advantages, but EAs tend to have a more consistent, measurable track record.
The Conclusion
Copy trading without a VPS is not a magic button to wealth, but it is one of the most realistic entry points into forex trading for someone who does not have the time, knowledge, or inclination to learn technical analysis from scratch. Without a VPS, without installing software, without complicated settings, you can connect your account to EAs that already have a proven track record, such as Quantum Queen and Kirana GBP Invest, in a few minutes.
All that is required of you is to enter with realistic expectations, capital that you can afford to lose, and the willingness to properly set up risk management from day one.
